Waverly Parsons Chaplain Waverly Parsons co-founded an organization called Cowboy Christian Fellowship over a decade ago. While hanging out with the Christian cowboys, strummin' his guitar and singin' like an ol' cowhand, Waverly heard about a ministry called Race Track Chaplaincy of America. Like so many people we see today, when Waverly first heard of a ministry at a racetrack, he was a bit skeptical. Little did he know that years later he would become a Race Track Chaplain himself.
When Trinity Meadows Race Track opened in Weatherford, Texas in 1991, Waverly became assistant chaplain under Chaplain Don Smith. Then in 1997 when Trinity Meadows was converted to Squaw Creek Downs Training Center, Waverly took over as chaplain until 2008, when he became chaplain at The Fairgrounds in New Orleans, LA. He later served as President of the RTCA and, in addition to The Fairgrounds ministry, Waverly is currently the interim chaplain at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, TX.
Waverly and his wife Brenda have been married for 35-plus yeas and reside in Pearl River, LA. They have three children, Misti, Aaron, and Trent.
